INVENTION CONVENTION
Calling all inventors! WJJMS will be participating in the 2022 Connecticut Invention Convention. This year, WJ will be hosting a virtual invention convention where students can submit videos of their ideas and prototypes for others to see. Five students will be selected to represent our school at the State Invention Convention in May and will win fabulous prizes such as gift cards and wireless headphones. Every student who enters will earn a chance to win an additional prize from a random drawing. Any students interested in eternal fame and glory can sign up by emailing Mrs. Ngai or stopping by the Innovations room during workshops. All video entries must be entered by March 9th. Good luck inventors!
Attention ALL parents:
We have two important yearbook deadlines coming quickly. Please make note of these so you and your student do not miss out. The deadline for personalization is January 28th. Students love to get their book personalized; it makes them “theirs” and also is a great help in locating the owner when they leave them lying around. THIS DEADLINE CANNOT BE EXTENDED.
Attention 8th Grade parents:
The deadline for 8th grade grad ads is January 28th (or when we run out of space, whichever comes first). Please do not wait until the last minute just in case you have trouble and need to call Jostens for help. Since this service is done directly through Jostens, you need to contact them for help.

8TH GRADE INNOVATIONS CLASS WINS CT SCIENCE CENTER’S ANNUAL UPCYCLED GINGERBOARD HOUSE COMPETITION
Thank you to everyone who voted online for our project in the Hartford Courant/CT Science Center's annual upcycled Gingerboard House Competition. WE WON! We were selected as one of the winners for the Community Partners category, up against businesses, schools and professional maker spaces. The staff at the Connecticut Science Center were so impressed that instead of the original prize (4 four packs of tickets to the science center) they awarded each of the students a free ticket PLUS hats, t-shirts, candy, pens, fidget toys, AND a set of super nice wireless headphones for each student! We couldn't have done it without your votes, so thank you again!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ngai & 8th grade Innovations students Ben Buyniski, Naia Coelho, Emma Corn, Aivree Durnik, Ava Golubeff, Brynn Herboldt, Caelyn McLear, Liam Sweeney, Cameron Taskey, & Natalie Uhrig.
