Costa Rica Trip Reminder for 7th & 8th Grade Students

Dear parents and guardians -

We are very excited to take students to a Spanish-speaking country in order to extend our classroom learning into the real world. This trip is open to all 7th and 8th graders, regardless of which language they take, or if they take a language. We already have 17 students signed up, and would love for your child to join us. This is Explorica’s most popular student travel destination.

Where - Costa Rica - San José (the capital) as well as several other cities.
What - Visit a coffee plantation, a craft village, and hot springs; talk with locals during volunteer activities; zip line; and kayak
When - June 23 - June 30, 2026
How - fly from Boston / Logan airport, private coach bus within Costa Rica
Who - 7th and 8th graders who have not accumulated 5 behavior points before June 2026.
How much - The cost will be around $3,100 per student, all inclusive (flight, food, hotel). We only have that price lock until December 16. After that the price may rise slightly.  We will accept new travelers until February.

The point system is attached here if you are unfamiliar with it. Please note - if your child accumulates their 5th point in May, they will not be eligible for the trip. There is cancellation insurance, but you do not get the full amount back that you paid in. Please consider your child’s maturity when deciding if this trip is right for them.

If you are interested in sending your child, please fill out the Google Form here and I’ll get back to you with more information. Please note, we will not be offering a trip in the 26-27 school year. The trip after this will be for current 5th and 6th graders in 2028. - Profe Liska

Ski Club Wait List Forming!

Although the 50 spots have been filled, due to the overwhelming interest in Ski Club we are continuing to accept permission forms and registration fees for a wait list (in hoping that we get enough registrations for a second bus). If there is not enough interest for a second bus all registration fees will be returned to the students on the wait list. Both permission forms and registration fees must be submitted in order to be placed on the wait list.

Help Luna the Therapy Dog

Please consider helping Luna, the Colchester Fire & EMS therapy dog that we have had visit our students on numerous occasions, was diagnosed with cancer and is going through treatments. They have created a GoFundMe account to help pay for her medical bills.
